Hi, everyone! I’m C.S. Poe, and this is the final blog tour stop for The Mystery of the Curiosities, here at Sinfully Gay Book Reviews! I come with the gift of a short story that has been broken into six parts, which you can follow at each stop.

By the end of Nevermore, it’s heavily implied that Sebastian and Calvin are getting together. Curiosities begins nearly two months after they met, and they’re already dating. So I decided to write about the exact day they made it ‘official’ in between Books One and Two. Don’t forget to check out the giveaway at the end!

Part 1 is available at The Novel Approach.

Part 2 is available at Joyfully Jay.

Part 3 is available at Prism Book Alliance.

Part 4 is available at Boy Meets Boy.

Part 5 is available at Love Bytes.

Part 6

I brought my mystery package up to the roof. The door creaked loudly, dragged against some poorly laid metal siding, and made my presence known.

Calvin turned around and smiled. “Hey.”

“Uh— hey,” I slowly said. “What’re we doing up here?”

“I know you’re sick, but I thought you’d still like to enjoy New Year’s together.” He walked toward me, and I noticed behind him were two lawn chairs sitting out.

I waved my arm and coughed briefly into the sleeve of my jacket. “Don’t get too close, I don’t want to get you sick.”

Calvin ignored the warning. He still had his arm in a sling with his jacket draped over the shoulder. “You’ll need to open that,” he continued, nodding his head at the package.

“Oh. Right.” I looked down and tore the paper off to reveal— the spinner used in the game Twister. The only addition to it being that the colors had all been labeled. “Okay….” I said before glancing up. “I’m confused.”

“Come over here.” Calvin took my free hand and motioned to the chairs.

I quickly nudged the access door shut with my foot before following. We both sat down. Calvin picked up a blanket from beside his chair, shook his briefly, then set is over my lap. I smiled and set the spinner down on it. “What now?”

“Spin,” he said, digging into his coat pocket and taking out his cell.

I flicked it and laughed while saying, “Right hand red.”

Calvin already had his phone to his ear and I watched him curiously as he reported my results. “Red first.” He hung up and then pointed forward to a space in the sky between several tall buildings.

“What?” I asked.

“Shh. Just wait.” Calvin reached out and put his hand over mine, threading our fingers together.

I smiled and watched the empty, dark sky before a sudden light appeared and fireworks began exploding. “Oh, wow!” I exclaimed. Good thing I was still wearing my sunglasses. I looked at Calvin to see him grinning. “Did you plan this?”

He nodded.

“Aren’t fireworks illegal in the city?”

“We won’t talk about that.”

I laughed and returned to watching the display. “So these are red?”

“Yes.”

I held up the board with one hand, comparing the shade of gray labeled ‘red’ to the explosions going off. They were kind of similar. Definitely different from the one marked ‘yellow.’

And suddenly I was hit by how… sweet the gesture was. Maybe I’d never see color for what it truly is, but Calvin had found a hell of a way for me to experience each one for what it was to me.

“Can I spin it again?” I asked, caught off guard by the tightness in my throat.

“Go ahead, sweetheart.”

“Left foot blue.”

Calvin made the call, and less than a minute later, more fireworks went off.

“Happy New Year,” he said.

I glanced away from the board and sky, meeting his gaze and returning the smile. “Happy New Year.”

“Do you still want to date me?” Calvin asked.

I nodded.

“Good.” He gripped my hand a bit tighter, leaned close, and kissed the side of my head. “I’d be honored to be your boyfriend.”

It turned out to be the best cold I’d ever had.

Synopsis

Life has been pretty great for Sebastian Snow. The Emporium is thriving and his relationship with NYPD homicide detective, Calvin Winter, is everything he’s ever wanted. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Sebastian’s only cause for concern is whether Calvin should be taken on a romantic date. It’s only when an unknown assailant smashes the Emporium’s window and leaves a peculiar note behind, that all plans get pushed aside in favor of another mystery.
Sebastian is quickly swept up in a series of grisly yet seemingly unrelated murders. The only connection tying the deaths together are curiosities from the lost museum of P.T. Barnum. Despite Calvin’s attempts to keep Sebastian out of the investigation, someone is forcing his hand, and it becomes apparent that the entire charade exists for Sebastian to solve. With each clue that’ll bring him closer to the killer, he’s led deeper into Calvin’s official cases.
It’s more than just Sebastian’s livelihood and relationship on the line—it’s his very life.

Snow & Winter: Book One

Review :: Amazon

It’s Christmas, and all antique dealer Sebastian Snow wants is for his business to make money and to save his floundering relationship with closeted CSU detective, Neil Millett. When Snow’s Antique Emporium is broken into and a heart is found under the floorboards, Sebastian can’t let the mystery rest.

He soon finds himself caught up in murder investigations that echo the macabre stories of Edgar Allan Poe. To make matters worse, Sebastian’s sleuthing is causing his relationship with Neil to crumble, while at the same time he’s falling hard for the lead detective on the case, Calvin Winter. Sebastian and Calvin must work together to unravel the mystery behind the killings, despite the mounting danger and sexual tension, before Sebastian becomes the next victim.

In the end, Sebastian only wants to get out of this mess alive and live happily ever after with Calvin.

  13. Saving these posts for when I finish Nevermore (probably tomorrow). Really like Seb and Cal together; the next Dex and Sloane, LOL! Truly pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying the book because I'm a tough customer so to speak. Keep wondering-does Ms. Poe have a British accent at all? I "hear" it at times in Sebastian.

  15. I haven't read this series but now I definitely want to. I love the use of the Twister spinner... I read a short story once about another use! Much steamier but just as sweet. (Red Hand Red by Danni Keane)
